SMG Theater Preshow
One of my core responsibilities was the programming, scheduling, and management of our theaters’ preshow. From our exclusive film trailers, to our menu and drink commercials, to brand pieces about our loyalty program, and local alternate programming— building an engaging preshow that represents and differentiates Studio Movie Grill was my priority.
Our theater preshow is arguably the most crucial touch point in the guests’ experience at Studio Movie Grill. Whether they’re arriving early to catch trailers, browsing our menu, or waiting for friends to arrive, this 15-20 minutes greatly impacts the way guests interacted with SMG— and maximizing this opportunity was a core responsibility of mine.
Programming the preshow involved scheduling and rotating in/out video spots on a regular basis, and collaborating with Marketing and other departments to make sure that our guests were seeing a piece of everything SMG had to offer, year-round.
Each theater and market could have unique programming, to take advantage of all of our localized alternate programming, menu offerings, community outreach and in-theater marketing activations.
Finally, and most of all, the preshow needed to represent Studio Movie Grill and our passion for food and movies. Countless content calendars and a robust playlist of custom content created a preshow that made watching a film at SMG feel different than any other theater.
